Backend

Secure, scalable server-side systems — APIs, databases, and authentication built to handle real production traffic.

The Challenge

A great frontend without a solid backend is a sports car with no engine. If your app has users, data, or transactions — you need an architecture that won't buckle under load, leak sensitive data, or become impossible to maintain six months after launch.

Deliverables

What You Get

RESTful APIs

Clean, documented API contracts that your frontend can consume reliably. Built with proper status codes, versioning, and error handling.

Authentication & Authorization

Role-based access control (RBAC), JWT token flows, session management, and secure password handling — no half-measures on security.

Database Architecture

Normalized schemas, efficient indexing, and migration strategies for MySQL or PostgreSQL. Built to scale, easy to reason about.

Cloud Deployments

Deployment pipelines with environment management, secrets handling, and automated backups so your production never goes dark.

Webhooks & Integrations

Connect your system to Stripe, email providers, or any third-party API. Event-driven architecture that reacts in real time.

Admin Panels

Custom lightweight admin tools built on top of your API — user management, content moderation, and data inspection without CMS overhead.

How It Works

Our Process

01

Architecture Review

I map out your system requirements before touching any framework. What data flows where, who accesses what, and how it all connects.

Questions I ask you

  • What are the core entities in your system (users, orders, products...)?
  • What third-party services do you need to integrate?
  • Do you have existing infrastructure or are we starting fresh?
  • What are your expected user load and growth projections?
02

Data Modeling

Designing the database schema is the most important decision. I get this right before writing application code.

Questions I ask you

  • What are the relationships between your core data models?
  • Do you need soft deletes, audit trails, or version history?
  • What data will need to be searched, filtered, or sorted at scale?
  • Are there compliance requirements (GDPR, data residency)?
03

API Development

Building endpoints systematically — authentication first, core resources next, integrations last. Every endpoint is tested and documented.

Questions I ask you

  • Will this API be consumed by a web frontend, mobile app, or both?
  • Do you need public API access or is everything behind authentication?
  • What response format does your frontend team expect?
  • Do you need rate limiting, caching, or background job queues?
04

Deployment & Monitoring

From local to production with CI/CD pipelines, environment configs, and uptime monitoring so you're never flying blind.

Questions I ask you

  • Which cloud provider do you use or prefer?
  • Do you need staging/production environment separation?
  • What monitoring and alerting tools should we integrate?
  • Who on your team will handle infrastructure after handover?

Common Questions

What backend stack do you primarily use?

Laravel (PHP) is my primary choice for data-heavy, CRUD-driven applications — it's opinionated in the right ways. I've also built systems in vanilla PHP and JavaScript/Node.js for specific use cases.

Can you work with my existing codebase?

Yes. I can audit existing systems, refactor legacy code, extend APIs, or migrate from one stack to another. I'll start with a technical review before recommending changes.

How do you handle API security?

Every API I build includes: HTTPS enforcement, proper authentication, authorization middleware (RBAC), input validation, SQL injection prevention, rate limiting, and CORS configuration.

Do you provide documentation?

Yes — every project ships with API documentation. Undocumented APIs are technical debt I won't leave behind.
